What a busy week! The children have enjoyed a great visit to the National Space centre. The highlight for most of them was the 3D simulator ride and the 360 degree planetarium. The children managed to show off their learning in the workshop which left the staff impressed with how knowledgeable they are around the relationship between the Sun, Earth and Moon.
In science we have looked at the phases of the moon and understood why we see different parts of the moon at different parts of the month. We hope the moon diaries are going well.
In maths the children are growing in confidence to subtract from larger numbers using the jumping on method. In literacy we have continued with our book but have gone into more detail about the language that has been used by the author. We have acted out different parts of the story as role plays and have tried to show empathy towards the characters by writing diary entries.
On Thursday 5SG had their first PSHE lesson using the ‘Jigsaw’ programme and really enjoyed sharing their dreams and goals for the future. They love their new Jigsaw Jez (cuddly toy in the shape of a jigsaw piece) who lives in the classroom!
RE was interesting on Friday when Miss Hanefey learnt how active the pupils are in their parish communities…altar servers, singers in the choir, flower arrangers and parents who are readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Catechists… After discussing parish life the pupils learnt a bit about ‘diocese’ and looked at the Westminster Diocese website.
We hope you enjoy the photos...!
